I grew up near Brigham City. It was one of the "big cities" we would go to if the shopping in Tremonton didn't suffice. When it was announced that there would be a temple for The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints built there, I was amazed! In fact, I was there in the Conference Center when it was announced and my exact reaction was "Are you serious?!?!?" Yes, I did say it aloud which was a tad embarrassing since I was there with my future in-laws the first time we'd met. Oh well! Two years later, the temple is built and it is beautiful. I feel like it's my temple even though I haven't lived in the area for years. So, when we got invited to a special preview tour of it (thanks to Kam's company doing some work for it), I was eager to go. Kam got off work a little early and we drove an hour to get there. We found a prime parking spot, wandered around outside for a bit and then found where to go for the tour. The line looked long, but hey, it'd be worth it, right? We watched the little video and then made our way with a large group to the exit. Right then, we realized it might be awhile since we couldn't even get out of that room to get into the line because the line was in the way! After waiting for half an hour after the video, only making it about 15 feet down from where we got in line, and talking to a man who was still waiting to get in (and had been for an hour and 15 minutes since the video) we decided we'd better not stay because it was already way past Grant's bedtime (not to mention it was very warm and stifling). I was sorely disappointed and teared up a bit on the way home but I knew it was what was best. We did get some good pictures though:

Grant was so good during the long wait, especially once they passed out water to everyone!
My boys in front of the temple
Me and my cute little boy by the front entrance
The front spire of the beautiful temple
Side view. I couldn't get far enough away to get the whole thing in one pic before we left
So, that is my sad story of the Brigham City Temple open house. It does have a happy ending, though. When I took Grant up to my mom's for her to watch him during our cruise (more on that later), he and I were able to go through and see the amazing beauty inside too! I loved it. I am so grateful to have temples on the earth today and for the spirit and power they contain. I am humbled every time I enter and am grateful to have been married to my wonderful husband in a temple so that we can be together forever. What a blessing!
