I don't think my poor husband truly realized how much of a Disneyland geek I really am (although, he should have because he knew I went there every week when I lived in LA) . Even with me owning books about Disneyland and following the Disney Parks Blog he was blissfully unaware. And even when we went to DisneyWorld he didn't see the full potential of it. I think his first real hint was when I downloaded the Disneyland Explorer app on the iPad and was entertained and very happy for hours!!!!
SO, when my parents decided they would plan a trip to Disneyland for Spring Break, we (mostly me!) jumped at the chance to go! Kam was excited to get the "Winkler Experience" while there. Now, with us taking our 6 month old baby, he didn't get the full force of that experience. I feel a little bad about that, we weren't our usual diehard, running from opening until closing selves. However, he did get to see how much we know about the ins and outs and was impressed we didn't need to look at a map even once. My younger brother and his wife came as well. It was her first time there and I hope we didn't scare her too much!!
Even though it was much different for me than any other time there, I really enjoyed having my little baby there. It really did slow me down having to push the stroller and try to not run over people. I also spent a LOT more time in Fantasyland than I normally would. It was SO much fun watching Grant on the rides just looking back and forth, trying to soak in all the noise, colors and movements. I think his mouth was open wide all the way through "It's a Small World" and he never held his head still while trying to see it all! I loved it!! I felt a little guilty that his schedule was completely nonexistent for a week but he did really well! He napped in the stroller and at night, slept like a rock when we got him back to his bed. When we watched "World of Color" he tried really, really hard to stay awake but was falling asleep upright in Grandpa's arms. It was funny to watch him nod off and he was so tired, he didn't wake up when being put back in the stroller or taken out! I have such a good little boy, he put up with a lot that week!!
Anyway, it was a fun trip and I especially enjoyed having my husband with me since he'd worked about 60 hours each week for the 2 weeks before we went. I'm glad we were able to go with my parents on this trip. There's no way we could've done it with Grant without the extra help! It may be awhile before I get to Disneyland again and that may cause some withdrawals for me, but at least I have that app when I get really bad :P
Here's some of my favorite pics from our trip:
On the way down, we stayed in Vegas and went to a show!
We also went to Medieval Times and met my sister and the family she is a nanny for.
I loved that they made the crown small enough for him!!

Fun times in the stroller....
Modeling his new sun hat!
Fascinated in "It's a Small World"

How fun! I need to go to Disneyland sometime! I went to disneyworld, but haven't been to disneyland since the one time I went when I was thirteen.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize you were such a fan!! Good to know:) It looks like fun and Grant is such a cutie, he looks a lot like Kameron when he was little. (I should know I spent a lot of time with him at that age). Can't wait to see you guys in July! Kirstin
ReplyDeleteMy family sometimes calls Grant Kam on accident because they think he looks so much like his daddy!! We're excited to see you guys too!!
